Gun & Knife Crime

Gun and knife crime is now rife in most parts of England. It is very concerning. I have a younger brother and sister who have to grow up in this world.
Innocent people are being stapped and shot, sometimes just because they looked at somebody the wrong way. There has been a recent shooting in Birmingham, about a five minute walk from my house, a youth was shot and killed for no apparent reason.

Stephen Lawrence is another example, stabbed at a bus stop, a young life tragically cut short. In this case it was a racist attack and the killers have got away the crime. Justice has not been done.

I don't the answer to this problem, I wish I did. All I can do, as an older brother, is try to teach my brother and sister right from wrong. I just feel so sorry for the parents who have lost their children in this way.

Bullying

Bullying is a horrible thing to experience. No one should go through bullying. If a person is getting bullied in school, this makes the person unhappy and fear of going to school. A person is likely to make excuses and avoid going to school, this can also effect their education.
When a person is getting bullied they have the right to tell the teacher, so they can sort it out and stop the bullying, however this can sometimes be hard for the victim and they suffer the bullying in silence.
Children should know it is vital to tell someone when they are get bullied so they can step up to the bullies and make it stop. Bullies do not only excist in school but it can also happen in work places.

Being too religious

I think that being too religious can make other people feel uncomfortable. However I dont feel that being too religious is such a bad thing. I am not the most religious person in the world but I do follow my religion. I think that you can be as religious as you want as long as you dont offend anyone else and respect other peoples views and opinions.

Binge-Drinking

Binge-drinking is a social problem that is getting out of control in Britain. One in four adults in Britain are binge-drinkers and the UK recently topped a poll as Europe's heaviest alcohol consumers. According to a recent government report, Britain's binge-drinking problem is costing £20 billion a year! The money is spent on alcohol related crimes and social problems.

re: http://beingabadgandalf.blogspot.com

I agree that religion should not be forced on people. It should be left to the individual. People should be able to make these kind of decisions for themselves.
I also agree that religion isn't to blame for people's behaviour, eg Terrorism.

Drugs

Drugs are a common part of modern society. It seems that the attitude towards drugs has become more relaxed over time.
Media reports and official publications have frequently portrayed drug takers as lacking self esteem, unable to resist peer pressure, seeking oblivion, rejecting traditional norms, anti social and willing to violate laws.
I think part of the problem is that many celebrities glamourise illegal substances. Therfore the chances of young people trying illegal substances is high, and likely to increase.

Comment No. 2

I am not a smoker but i believe that all smokers have all the information they need that smoking is bad behavior and a serious health concern.

Tattoos

The fact that they can lead to discrimination is wrong. People should be able to express their own individuality. If this means getting a little cartoon or some some text needled into your skin then so be it,  as long as it doesn't offend anyone. Some tattoos can be quite pleasing to the eye and don't have to be covered up. Tattoos are good because they don't usually affect other people.
What i don't agree with is the all-over-the-body tattoos. There is no need. in my eyes your just ruining your body and people may not take you seriously in the real world.

re: Make Drugs Legal?? (http://www.kimberley19.blogspot.com/)

I agree that making drugs legal is not a good idea. Drugs represent a significant risk to the community. Even if drugs become illegal, people will still interact with drug dealers as they will still be out there.
If some of the softer drugs were made legal then it may lead into an increase in soft drug use and people may use the stronger drugs like cocaine and heroine less. This is just a theory though.....

Infidelity

There are lots of married men and women that are unfaithful at some point or another in their relationship. Infidelity can range from a one night stand to a long term, planned and circulated affair. Infidelity doesn't have to mean the end, but is likely to have a long term impact on any relationship.

Some people are unfaithful for the thrill and excitement. Some people have affairs because they see it as a way of getting out of a relationship. Being unfaithful isn't the best way to tell your partner that you are unhappy but it could prove to be a wake up call that some relationships need.

Lying

I never tell lies well that’s a bit of a strong statement actually and what I mean is that I don’t tell ‘Lies’. That small omission of information to get you out of a tight corner is acceptable in my universe. This doesn’t make me a liar. I worry about the label, I mean, everyone lies but that doesn’t make the majority of humanity evil. Most times I lie on the grounds of efficient living. I mean it takes time to explain things properly, so, instead, to make time for more urgent matters, I lie. Does this dress look good on me? Now, here’s the scenario. I’ve acquired an in depth knowledge of the spatial and architectural specifications of nearly all female changing rooms in the Bullring shopping centre. My advice up to this point has been balanced and empathetic, my girlfriend is trying out a new look which does not suit her. But female retail staff lie to her telling her, in gentle understanding tones, how lovely she looks. What can I say, you don’t look so good and that those bright neon stripes are not exactly flattering your profile. But then again, this could go on for hours. This type of lying, the damage limitation is acceptable and can be used in many contexts. The danger of course is that thinks can spin out of control. The dress will return to haunt me and I will have to hide my displeasure.

drugs

Ganja, marijuana, weed, puff, smoke, pot, herb, dope, resin, grass, pukka, cheese, dankage, green, there are hundreds of names to describe it. But, call it what you want, the recreational use of cannabis is still illegal in Britain, although that hasn't stopped around half of all young people smoking a spliff at some point in their lives.

body modification

I dont think that getting a tattoo or getting pierced are the worse things in the world. If its done with consent then its perfectly acceptable.

Nowadays everyone wants to be unique, and for many people modifying their bodies is a way of creating a unique identity or characteristic.

Smoking

Smoking was very common in the black and white films from the 1930s and onwards. It was quite common to see the protagonist of the film to smoke regularly in the film. Smoking would add to the characters stylish and sophisticated personality. In an attempt to become more stylish and sophisticated, many people would smoke just like their on screen role models. The media use of smoking continued in the 1950s when large American Tobacco corporations began to sponsor Television shows and later commissioned adverts to promote their products.
